Tuskegee Airmen P-51D "Little Freddie."
Skin by John "Skycat" Turner.
----------------------------

This file contains a replacement skin for Rammjager's "Six Gun Whore" (v.1) P-51D model for Jane's WWII Fighters game. It installs the paint scheme for "Little Freddy," a historical P-51D flown by Capt. Freddie E. Hutchins. Capt Hutchins served with the 302nd Fighter Squadron, 332nd Fighter Group ("The Tuskegee Airmen"), 15th Air Force, and is credited with downing two Me109s. The 332nd FG operated P-51D Mustangs at Ramitelli, Italy during late 1944 and early 45. Captain Hutchins was a native of Blakely, Georgia and graduated in the Tuskegee Airmen class 43-D. He later served in Korea and Vietnam. During his Wartime service Freddie Hutchins was awarded the DFC and Purple Heart.

In creating this skin, I borrowed freely from earlier Mustang skin mods created by other artists:
-- Rammjager, of course, who created the original model, textures and paint kit that is this skin's basic foundation;
-- The Flying Dutchman's P-51B paint template, which I used for restoring panel lines in the deep red tail;
-- Hammerd's original 'Jane's' P-51D paint template to create the distant view textures;
-- MEGA's "Baby Mine" for damage textures and the basic installation package structure;
-- "Angel's Playmate" skin (artist unidentified) for the weathered anti-glare panel on the nose;
-- Crager's "Iron Ass" for the red spinner texture;
-- Johnny Red's "Troublemaker" for wing textures without black identification stripes;
-- Johnny Red's "Blondie" for rudder damage textures.

In addition, I've been directly and indirectly influenced by the work of many modders, far too many to begin to name. Specifically, for this project, Kolodziejski Dariusz's "Millie The P" inspired me to improve the contrast on the national insignia (stars and roundels) on the wings and fuselage.

Installation
------------
Before installing this, or any other, custom modification, you are advised to make a backup of your original ww2.sqs archive. Note also that Rammjager's P-51D v.1 model must be installed prior to installing this skin; this skin will NOT work with the game's default Mustang model or with Rammjager's "Whore" version 2 model.

This package includes high resolution (512x512) textures only. Older video cards may not be able to handle this higher resolution. If the high resolution version is installed on a system with an inadequate video card, a crash to desktop will likely occur during the game.

Extract the contents of this Zip file and then move, copy or place the enclosed "Little_Freddie" folder into your WWII Fighters\Data directory. Assuming the game is installed to the default location on your drive, the folder will go here: C:\Program Files\Jane's Combat Simulations\WWII Fighters\Data. Then, double-click the "INSTALL_LittleFreddie.bat" icon inside the "Little_Freddy" folder to install the skin.

This will open up a DOS session and the installation will proceed in this window. A message "INSTALLING P51D LITTLE FREDDIE" will be displayed. When the installation is complete, a message saying "INSTALLATION OF P51D LITTLE FREDDIE COMPLETE...CLOSE DOS SESSION AND GO SHOOT DOWN SOME JETS" will be displayed in the window. Close the DOS session by clicking on the X close button in the top right corner of the window.
